Don’t allow bandits take over Nasarawa – PDP warns

The Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) in Nasarawa State has raised alarm over the increasing attacks resulting into killings of dozens of residents of the state.

The opposition PDP stated that the ruling All Progressive Congress, (APC) under Governor Abdullahi Sule must not fail in the main objectives of governance which includes the protection of life of citizens.

This was contained in a statement on Wednesday by Jonathan Ipaa, Press Secretary for the chairman, PDP Nasarawa State.

The PDP regrets that bandit’s strikes are killing dozens in Doka, Rukubi, Kadarko, Agyaragu, Awe, New Karu, in their farms, in the rural areas and indeed, in Lafia, the state capital.

Residents get kidnapped and brutally killed in their houses.
Nobody is safe as even Government’s staff aren’t spared either.

Latest media reports in the state has put the scenario at an alarming stage as no single day that passes without scantily headlines and ugly scenes of slaughtered humans.

Gunmen had on Monday, September 1st, 2025, launched a deadly attack on two brothers at Akunza community along the Lafia -Federal University -Makurdi Expressway Area of Nasarawa State, killing one and leaving others in critical conditions.

The victims, identified as Edwin and Cyril, were supervising construction works at a family property when the attackers struck. Witnesses said the gunmen, who called out the brothers’ names, tried to force the main door open before shooting through the window, killing Edwin and seriously injuring Cyril.
Armed rapists have also continue to execute their distardly act on innocent female students of the university for months now.

In a separate incident, suspected bandits stormed the residence of a promising buzinessman, Alhaji Mohammed Sani at the heart of Lafia, the state capital killing him.
Angered by the killing, some youths captured one of the assailants and set him ablaze.

The incidents have heightened tension among residents, who lament the rising wave of killings and insecurity in the state capital.
In New Nyanya suburb of New Karu, the gateway to Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, dare armed robbers in their hundreds, on Tuesday night, killed one resident, carting away household items for hours unchallenged.

On the August 15th, 2025, the head of the government house kitchen, Ms Paulina Erna was kidnapped a stone throw to Government House, Lafia shortly after closed from work.

Unspecified millions of naira were paid a week later for her freedom.
On the same day she was freed, an aid to former governor, Sen Umaru Tanko Almakura was kidnapped.

These scenarios might have angered the state lawmakers when they picked courage to sit over the matter.
The PDP appealed to Gov Sule to provide adequate security logistics on ground to strike more actions to tame the activities of these undesirable elements.
The PDP sympathizes with the local farmers who are fleeing away from their farms which are at almost near harvest stages.
We advise the governor to step up modern strategic plans to stern the current state of killings in the state.
The government which has continue to deny the presence of suspected armed bandits in it’s territory should encourage security agencies to perfect their line of action.
The authority should respond to alerts from reports of identified heavily armed bandits in deserted areas like Doka, Rukubi and Akpanaja in Ekkye Development Area, Hamanga, Jangaru area of Awe LGA and Kwara, Giza and Kadarko area of Keana LGA respectively.

It called on the Government of Engr. Sule to keep away self pride, partner with the neighbouring FCT authority to curb the neighborhood satellite towns of New Nyanya, Maraba, Masaka and environs and flush out these hoodlums.
