The Dr. Osahon Enabulele Foundation has urged Nigerians to enter the new year with greater confidence and belief in the average Nigerian human spirit to conquer the barriers and challenges confronting progress in all spheres of our national life.
It said having overcome the daunting and precarious challenges of 2024, through the grace of God, that grace will see Nigerians through in 2025.
Director General of the Foundation, Dr Osahon Enabulele, made the remark in the Foundation’s New Year Message to Nigerians Wednesday.
Dr. Enabulele was the former President, World Medical Association (WMA).
According to him, as Nigerians begin the new journey, the question of how to navigate the murky waters of hunger, suffering, alienation, seeming indirection, threatening erosion of our moral compass, the miasma of hopelessness and despondency among others in the year will no doubt attempt to occupy our minds.
He, however, pointed out that Nigerians have a famed resilience against adversities and that resilience must serve well this year.
The Foundation advised that Nigerians must joggle in their minds the options we have as a people. “We can either submit to those despairing and existential listing above, or, as the great Nigerians that we are, rise to Repair! If Nigeria put us where we are. It is We, Nigerians, that must get us out of it and take us to where we want to go,” it said.
According to the message, the Dr Osahon Enabulele Foundation would on January 29 in Benin city, kickstart a national colloquium on Nigeria and the leadership question. This will include the leadership recruitment process and election management, as well as how Nigerians can truly have their health rights and universal access to health care, fulfilled.
“We appreciate the God-given potential, human and material resources of our great country. We believe they must be harnessed in deliberately coordinated ways to impact lives positively in the nation. Natural wisdom must now prevail on us to discern that now is the time for action,” the message explained.
It pointed out that this is the time to rebuild Nigeria; to return to the values and ethos that guarantee integrity, honesty, a sense of responsibility and commitment to ideals.
It said it recognise that it is only from such algorithm that we can produce genuine leadership and good governance in Nigeria.
Dr. Enebulele urged Nigerians to all this year think about the potential result of substituting our lamentations for real time, deliberate effort at recalibrating our immediate community for good.
