Dr. Idris, Jigawa Revenue Service and story of N100bn IGR target

Dr. Nasir Sabo Idris believes in improving quality infrastructure and development initiatives across Jigawa State. A tax guru and deeply respected banker as well as global champion in tax management, generations and maintenance.
Just recently the board was engaged in a one-day sensitization workshop in Dutse at manpower institute with aims of coming out with modalities, reforms and development initiatives in co-opting the ungoverned segments of humanity in tax development and management, the targeted groups are women,persons with disabilities and vulnerable groups in grievance data and response strategies in which all participants are required to come up design practical skills and platform specific channels for globally acceptable standard of tax collections with the view to analyzing data, ensuring adequate representation of the said group.

During the workshop,the JIRS Chairman noted that his board targets N100 billion of her revenue generation by the end of 2025.
This was mentioned to all media outlets during the recent seminar in Dutse during the workshop themed on Grievance Redress Mechanism (GRM) Review And Gender Responsive framework organized by prime initiatives and tax justice platform with the support of Christian Aid.
Dr Nasir expressed that the board target to achieved desires goals of 200 percent of total revenue generated last 2024,where the board generated N51.7 billion by December 2024 against N16.5 billon generated in 2023.
The chairman equally pointed out that last year their revenue witnessed significant growth and increased and now they had generated over N23.8 billion,so we hope to reach more sustainable targets,he added
The Revenue chief mentioned that governor Namadi charged the board to target 100 billion within two years,the board has already supersedes the target according to the chairman.
The JIRS received over 400 complains from tax payers and added that over 75 percent were resolved amicably.
On his remarks the Executive Director Prime Initiatives platform for tax justice reforms, Mr Mohammad Abdu Dutse, noted that the theme of the workshop is strengthening Gender responsive and inclusive tax grievance redress in Jigawa State.noted that the primary aim was assessing the current effectiveness and responsiveness of Jigawa state Tax payer Grievance Redress Mechanism,using existing guidelines scorecard tools, identifying strengths,bottlenecks and call for an improved urgent reforms areas.
He however,maintained that the workshop will equally examined the trenches, structures and dichotomy by extension the functional aspects of such GRM channels ,hotlines, WhatsApp, emails boxes and media spaces, IVR call facility among others.
