Ahead of the Kogi State 2023 governorship election which holds in November, a frontline aspirant for the Lugard House, Dr Samson Agada Omale, has promised to make the state realise its potentials for the benefit of its people and the nation as a whole.

Dr Omale  who is contesting on the platform of the Young Progressives’ Party [YPP], whose delegates from all the wards in the State  elected  him  unopposed as the party’s  flag bearer  at its convention held in Lokoja recently decried the present situation where the people of the state wallow in poverty in the midst of plenty and said the situation should not be allowed to continue . He therefore decried the failure of subsequent governments that administered the state for failing to address the issue of poverty and general backwardness of the area. He told our correspondent on what motivated him to contest for the position of the highest office in the Confluence State: “I was motivated to go into politics because of my realisation that politics controls everything, else: economics, social justice, governance and others. The only way to bring about any positive change is through politics, and hence  I have to be involved to advance the cause and wellbeing of the people of the State.”

Dr Omale , who is an expert in Finance  as well as a  consultant in many other  spheres promised to bring his wealth of experience  nationally and internationally to bear in the development of the state that prides itself as the Confluence State of the country. He said he  was  motivated to throw the hat in the rings of the country’s politics  equally by a strong desire to see a new Kogi State playing a leading role among the rest of the States  in the country.

According to him: “Time and again, various leaders have come with the promise of transforming the state, but at the end, the left the state and its people poorer and backward. I hope, by the grace of God to   make the difference. I have acquired a lot of experience from virtually every sector of the economy. Both private and public: Banking, finance, manufacturing, insurance. Again, I have worked in all the continents of the world, where I  made so many international contacts.” He added that apart from his vast contacts made at home and internationally,” I have helped businesses and nations to develop policies and concepts that have helped businesses and nations to succeed.

He said the State  can no longer continue to suffer in the midst of abundant natural resources, especially mineral  of various kinds, and waterways. The governorship hopeful promised to in addition to his vast experience work assiduously to ensure that basic requirements of government lacking with the present leadership,  the right of the people to social, economic,  and good government , rule of law and accountability turning the abundant resources of the State into profitable ventures, among other  initiatives which will be unfolded in due course, are pursued vigorously for the advancement of the State.
