Ebonyi 2023 governorship race: Sen. Ogba, Ogbaga pick forms

Two federal lawmakers of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) in Ebonyi State have picked interest nomination forms for governorship position in the forthcoming elections.
They were Senator Obinna Ogba representing Ebonyi Centre senatorial district and Hon.Sylvester Ogbaga representing Abakaliki -Izzi federal constituency.
Although, not less than five aspirants and members of PDP have indicated interest to contest the number one seat in 2023 with North senatorial zone having lead of aspirants in the race.
These include former minister for State Health, Engr. Fidelis Nwankwo, Hon. Chukwuma Nwazunku representing Ebonyi/Ohankwu federal constituency and Hon.Chris Usulor, representing Ezza South as the state house of Assembly.
But, Sen.Ogba while addressing his supporters at his new campaign office in Abakaliki, promised to make the state better again through provision of good governance if elected.
He also pledged to advance the economy of the state and employment using the agriculture sector and establishment of industries.
“Ebonyians will be expecting any thing less than love, unity and good governance, provide employment to unemployed youths by building industries across the three senatorial zones in the state,” Sen.Ogba said.
Similarly, Ogbaga who has been a fourth timer at the house since 2007, also told his supporters at his resident during the weekend in Abakaliki, that he would cut down taxes, compensate those traders displaced at the former, Abakpa and building materials markets, recently if elected.
He said that the tax policy introduced recently, forced investors to flee the state to neighboring states.
Presently, leadership of PDP in Ebonyi state is yet to agree where the governorship position will be zone ahead of 2023, but there are underground campaign that it should be zone to the North senatorial zone of the state.
