The General Overseer of Bible Base and Miracle Assembly, Onitsha in Anambra State, Rev. Dr. Jerry Nwachukwu, has advised Christians to place their confidence on God, not political class who are mere mortals in this challenging time in the country.
Speaking while delivering his Easter Message, Dr. Nwachukwu said the help of man is vain, stressing that it is only God that can favour and lift men.
He said the present hunger, suffering and hardship in the land should not make them despair since challenges are part of Christianity.
He said “Famine is not new to humanity Challenges are part of humanity. Christian life without trouble is useless. If our strength is found to be small in the days of adversity, then our strength is small”
.
He challenged christians to use this period of Easter to seek the face of God and renew their strength to be able to achieve victory in Christ.
Rev. Dr. Nwachukwu said Easter was not meant for eating, drinking, and all the like but a period of celebration of victory over sin and death.
He asked them to look inward into their lives and ask if the death and resurrection of Christhas done anything in their lives
“Is there anything to show about Jesus’ death and resurrection in your life? What has Jesus’ death done in your life. If you have eaten all those food and meat, drank all assorted drinks without showing the life of Christ, they are exercise in futility. Some of us who call ourselves christians still smoke, drink and carry women about,” he said.
The General Overseer said if there was the spirit of resurrection in a christian”s life, there are things the Christian cannot do such as stealing, robbery, kidnapping, Yahoo-Yahoo, corruption in public office.
He challenged christians to serve God because of eternity not because of material things., warning men of God not to merchandise with their flocks as demanded by God in the scripture.
