Governor Ishaku of Taraba State

Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku of Taraba State says education is the bedrock of any living society.
The governor stated this at the flagged off ceremony for Taraba state Global Partnership for Education GPE covid 19 Response Enrollment Drive and Back to school campaign through the Federal Ministry of Education with the support of UNICEF held in Jolly Nyame Stadium Jalingo.
The governor said when he came on board education is one of the priority to develop in the state.
He noted that he has built a befitting offices for The state West African Examination Center WAEC for final year secondary students to register for exams.
The governor who was represented by the state commissioner of basic and secondary School Johaness Jigem said he is doing more to improve the standard of education in the state.
Governor Darius Ishaku called on the people of the state to partner with government in education in order to wipe out ignorance and foolishness.
Earlier, the commissioner of basic and secondary School Johaness Jigem appreciated the Global Partnership for Education GPE and federal ministry of education with UNICEF for bringing the laudable intervention to the state.
Jigem attributed the intervention by the GPE due to the track records of governor Darius led administration the rescue captain for transforming the state to greater heights.
The commissioner called on the stakeholders in education to be passionate about the success of education in the state as every year the results of students performance in external examination keep improving for the best.
However he said it is disturbing that after the covid 19 lockdown, about five million children are not attending school as a result of school closure owing to various reasons.
Jigem has advocate to all education stakeholders to enlighten and sensitize parents and care givers that government has provided facilities and structure to ensure the safety of every child in schools across the state as personal protective equipment were distributed to most schools in the state.
Johaness Jigem appreciated GPE for the provision of WASH facilities for Sardauna and Kurmi local government areas in the state.
The UNICEF specialist represented by state coordinator Juliana Tafida called on the stakeholders and the COS to make use of the good advantage of having an enabling environment for children to go back to school.
The state chairman of SUBEB Yakubu Agbaizo represented by permanent member two James Julius Jela said he would ensure to give out the possible support through grassroot mobilisation for the global campaign to achieve towards children standard of learning.
In his vote of thanks executive secretary of Post primary school management board David Mailafiya thanked Governor Darius support for education in the state and encouraged Tarabans to be an ambassador of education.
The highlight of the event was the vote of confidence for commissioner of basic and secondary in educational sectors.
The program was attended by permanent secretaries, directors and senior staff of the ministry of education.
