Eid-El Kabir: Gombe FRSC deploys 600 Regular, Special Marshall for traffic flow

Gombe State Command of the Federal Roads Safety Corps (FRSC) has cautioned motorists, motorcyclists and other roads users to be more circumvent during the forthcoming 2023 Eid-El Kabir Celebrations with the view to ensuring safely of life and prosperity. 

The Sector Commander, FRSC Gombe State, Corps Commander Felix Theman informed that this Year’s celebration is coming when the rains are heavy and there was the need to exercise restraint while driving.

Theman reiterated the need to observe Speed Limit as one of the most glaring and dominant causes of fatal and serious road crashes in the state. 

He added that the Sallah period is a season for reflection and sacrifice rather than a period for reckless driving in the name of celebration causing fear and anxiety amongst vulnerable road users.

The Sector Commander used the opportunity to commend the Gombe State Government for embarking on the rehabilitation of bad portions of main roads in the town which has been a source of concern to the Corps. 

The remedial measures according to him, will not only go a long in improving safety but reduce crashes that do occur due to the presence of the potholes.

The Commander called on parents who recently acquired bicycles for their wards in view of the high cost of transportation to evaluate the risk they expose their children to while meandering in-between vehicles. 

He stressed the need for such young riders to avoid major roads and maintain the extreme right while avoiding the right completely.

 The Sector Commander informed that his Command has deployed 600 Regular Marshals, Special Marshals and members of the Road Safety Club, 10 patrol vehicles and 5 Ambulances to ensure free flow of traffic on all major routes in the state, respond to traffic incidents as well as the enforce critical offences on all Corridors.

Theman pledged to work in collaboration with other Security agencies towards ensuring that the 2023 Sallah Celebrations are held under a peaceful and safe atmosphere throughout the state.
