Eid el-Kabir: NSCDC deploys 2, 875 personnel for hitch-free celebration in Nasarawa

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Nasarawa State Command, says it has approved the deployment of 2,875 Officers and
Men of the Command to provide Security during this year’s Sallah celebration in the state.

This is contained in a statement by the State Commandant, Abbas Mohammed through Public Relation Officer of the Command, Victor Jerry and made available to newsmen on Tuesday in Lafia.

The state Commandant tasked area Commanders and the Divisional Officers to strictly deploy personnel to security flash points within their catchment areas to hitch-free Sallah celebration in the state.

He further directed that all component Commanders and special forces to be deployed to achieve a watertight Security for maximum protection of the populace and critical national assets and infrastructures.

The State Commandant said the deployment was in line with the NSCDC Commandant General, Ahmed Abubakar Audi’s directives to ensure a hitch-free Sallah celebrations across the states.

Mohammed assured the residents and travellers alike of a peaceful Sallah celebration, as adequate security measure has already been put in place.

“Our resolve to guarantee peace, safety and protection of lives and critical national assets and infrastructure in synergy with other security agencies must be carried out through our collective inputs.

“For these obvious reasons, I have directed all area Commanders and Divisional officers with these responsibilities, therefore every one must brace up to discharge their responsibilities to satisfaction ” the statement said.

He mandated all formations within the Command in engaging community stakeholders to gather credible intelligence and carry out composite surveillance before, during and after the celebration to checkmate criminals activities.

Mohammed said the command under his watch would not relent in its efforts in reducing crime and criminality to barest minimum in the State.

The Commandant said this year peaceful Sallah celebration remained sacrosanct, as he directed personnel to focus on prayer grounds, worship centres, recreational facilities, motor parks, gardens, markets, shopping complexes, black spots and critical installations.

He extended his warm felicitation to all Muslim faithful in the state and across the country and wished them a peaceful Eid el- Kabir celebration, as he prayed for peace in Nigeria.
