As the Muslim Ummah across the globe celebrate Eid-il-Kabir, Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State in message to mark the occasion has called on the Muslim faithfuls to sustain fervent prayers for lasting peace and unity in the state and Nigeria in general.
Accoroding to the Governor, such fervent prayers should particularly be focused on calling on Allah for divine intervention in the affairs of the state and the Nation at large especially for the socioeconomic development of Kebbi state and the country as a whole.
Speaking about his Government, Idris said, “while fully recommiting myself and my APC-led govenrment, I am urging the good people of the state, our reliable pillars and partners to our own course of taking the state to greater heights not to relent in their prayers,” the govenror added.
“Our modest achievements recorded so far within one of our stay in office would not have been possible without the routine support and prayers from all the cross sections of the people in the state.” The Governor observed.
He said as Muslims slaughter their sacrificial animals on this eventful day, they should imbibe the spiritual teachings handed down to them by Prophet Ibrahim by remaining humble and offer sacricial meat to those who couldn’t afford the religious rites.
“Be kind to your neighbours and the less privileged. Use the occasion to reflect on the teachings of the first ten days of the month of Dhul Hajj which included total obedience to the will of Allah, love for one another and prayers for peace and progress in the society.” Governor Idris stressed.
He urged parents to be extra vigilant on their children as they engulfed themselves in merrymaking by making sure they carry out the celebrations within the convince of the law and should warn them against engaging themselves in reckless acts of celebrations that could be injurious to their lives.
