Emir of Zuru, Gomo III compliments Governor Idris efforts on security, visits defence minister

The Emir of Zuru, Alhaji Muhammad Sanusi Mika’ilu Sami Gomo lll, has requested the Ministry of Defence to establish additional military formations in Zuru Emirate of Kebbi State to tackle the persistent armed banditry in the area
The Emir made this request during a courtesy visit to Defence Minister General Christopher Musa, commending Governor Nasir Idris’ efforts to address the issue.
This was contained in a statement by Abdullahi Idris, Sadaukin Zuru, Special Adviser on Communication and Strategy to Kebbi State Governor.
He explained that his mission to the Minister was to, among other things congratulate him on what he called “well deserved” appointment,acknowledge and appreciate the unmeasurable support General Christopher Musa has been given to Governor Nasir Idris, since when he was the chief of Defence Staff.
The Emir disclosed that having studied the unfortunate security challenges after his assumption of office as the Emir, he concluded that there was the urgent need for establishing additional military formations and armed with modern sophisticated weapons with the capacity of bringing to an end the persistent security challenges.
The Emir highlighted Zuru Emirate’s potential for agriculture and solid minerals but noted that banditry has hindered development, thereby denying them the benefit of their God’s given natural resources.
He emphasised that the situation has equally subjected the communities to loss of lives and properties.
Emir Sanusi Sami Gomo lll requested for the federal government’s sustained support for Governor Idris in his efforts towards tackling the security challenges.
In his remarks, Minister Musa assured the Emir that his request would be considered with the relentless support of Governor Nasir Idris, praising his concern for the people’s plight.
The Royal father was accompanied by notable dignitaries including former Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Ishaya Bamaiyi, Major-General Muhammadu Magoro Galadiman Zuru, Honourable Kabiru Ibrahim Tukura representing Zuru, Sakaba, Fakai and Danko/Wasagu federal constituency in the National Assembly.
Emir’s visit to Abuja, the federal capital was also aimed at mobilisation for support of federal government’s relevant agencies, corporate organisations, indigenous and foreign investors in agribussiness and tourism industry for the forthcoming Uhola Annual International Cultural Festival scheduled to hold between April and May, 2026.
This year’s international festival will be hosted along with the coronation of Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi Mika’ilu Sami Gomo lll, appointed as the Emir of Zuru following the demised of Major-General Muhammadu Sani Sami Gomo ll.
