Emotions as final-year student in police net for newborn abandonment in Nasarawa bush

Following the discovery of a newborn baby in a bush in the Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, the State Police Command has arrested the mother in order to investigate the rationale behind her unholy act.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the Nasarawa State Police command, SP Ramhan Nansel confirmed the arrest while speaking with journalists on Thursday in Lafia, the state capital.
The suspect was apprehended on Wednesday in the Akwanga local government area of the state.
His words, “The mother of the baby has been identified and arrested. The Commissioner of Police has ordered the transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Lafia, for thorough investigation and prosecution.”
The mother of the abandoned baby had been identified as a final year NCE student of the College of Education, Akwanga.
She, however, allegedly abandoned the newborn with wrapped in a cloth in the bush and close to a Primary School on AA Koto Street, Akwanga.
An eye witness from the community, who didn’t want his name to be mentioned, informed our correspondent that the baby was found alive on Wednesday, and the matter was reported to the police for appropriate action.
The discovery of the baby has sparked outrage and emotions among residents, with many expressing shock over the incident.
