Encomiums flowed freely Thursday evening at the sent-forth of Professor Yakubu Ochefu as the Secretary-General of Committee of Vice-Chancellors of Nigerian Universities (CVCNU) after the expiration of his five-year tenure.
The well-decorated hall of the Armed Forces Officers Mess, Abuja provided the ambience for the celebration as friends, colleagues and well-wishers shower praises on Professor Ochefu for his steadfastness and successful tenure.
The Amir Musullumi of Idomaland, Professor Shamusudeen Amali described Professor Ochefu as a dedicated scholar and historian who gave his all.
Chairman of the occasion, Professor J.D Amin said Professor Ochefu was the best Secretary-General ever who came up with a strategic plan and implemented it with due diligence.
He described Professor Ochefu as a man of the people who will be greatly missed.For Professor Lilian Salami, the Vice Chancellor, University of Benin, Professor Ochefu is a committed leader whose tenure witnessed sustainable growth.

Professor Salami who was the former Chairman of the Committee, said it was wonderful working with Professor Ochefu who evolved a well-organised secretariat.
The Vice Chancellor, University of Lagos, Professor Folashade Ogunsola said Professor is very cerebral who changed the face of the Committee.
She also said he was very collaborative bringing everybody to the table.
The Executive Secretary of TETFund, Architect Sonny Echono said Professor Ochefu has done a lot for the organization as chair of one of its committees.
Highlights of the ceremony were the cutting of cake, presentation of awards, gifts, fireside chat with Professor Ochefu, unveiling of a book “Leadership and Legacy – The 5 years of Professor Yakubu Ochefu” and the wonderful Idoma cultural presentation.
