Enugu LG Chairman visits another victim of domestic violence amputated by husband

The chairman of Igbo Eze South Local Government Area of Enugu State, Hon Ugo Ferdinand Ukwueze, has paid visit to Mrs Chinonso Loveth Echegi, who has been hospitalized at Enugu State University Teaching Hospital, Parklane in Enugu for amputation of one of her hands by her husband.
Ugo who is also the Deputy Chairman of Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Enugu State chapter during the visit advised the victim not to despair but remain calm and be focused on her recovery.
He assured the victim of his constant support and monitoring of her progress while in hospital.
The chairman who is a lawyer donated N200, 000 to Mrs Echegi to support her medical expenses, promising that the State Ministry of Gender Affairs would equally join in taking care of her in this moment of pain.
Mrs Echegi’s husband, Sunday Onyeayanachi Echegi, was said to have amputated his wife during a misunderstanding at their house in Ibagwa-Agu, Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State in addition to other severe injuries.

She was rushed to Katochukwu Hospital and Maternity in Nsukka before being transferred to the Enugu State University Teaching Hospital (ESUTH) ,Parklane for more treatment.
The perpetrator, Sunday has been arrested and taken to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Enugu for further investigation and arraignment.
Loveth Echegi hails from Itchi-Agu in Igbo-Eze South Local Government Area and was said to have been married to Sunday who hails from Ibagwa-Ani, Nsukka Local Government Area since 2019.
The marriage is blessed with two children whom they were living together at Ibagwa-Agu during the time of the tragic incident.
