European Union officials from the Nigerian Mission led by Massimo DELCA – Head of Cooperation, Hugh Briggs- Programme Manager Agriculture, Laolu Olawumi – Programme Manager Democracy Rule of Law and Gender met with Senator representing Plateau South Senatorial District Simon Lalong.
The meeting at the Senator’s national assembly office provided an opportunity for engagement with the Senator who until recently, was the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Agricultural Institutions and Colleges before his redeployment to Electoral Matters.
The delegation discussed issues around agriculture and and food security emphasising the need to train more manpower that will drive the actualization of programs to meet Nigeria’s food needs.
Senator Lalong briefed the team about the establishment and funding of more agricultural institutions to address the challenges of improved farming practices and value addition.
The EU team assured the Senator of collaboration in the areas under his Committee’s oversight.
