Ex-Olympian launches charity organisation to assist orphans
The Sun of hope will shine on 10 selected orphans in Kwara who have enrolled in a Charity project setup by Ex-Silver medalist at Sydney 2000 and Founder of Ruth Ogbeifo Balofin Community Project (ROBCOP), Ruth Ogbeifo Balofin, to assist residents in the state.
She is to establish a charity project, Charity Mind of Giving (CMOG) fashion centre, to support stranded orphans.
According to her, CMOG will serve as a support system and a place where orphans can learn the fashion craft.
The Sydney 2000 Olympics silver medalist explained that the centre had recruited experts that would play a key role in bettering the community and surrounding areas.
She is targeting individuals between ages 10 and 16 who will be able to devise plans and make use of the resources that are available to them.
“We are starting with 10 people (both male and female) within Kwara state, irrespective of tribe, ethnicity or religion.
“They will all be trained by experts and eventually empowered to have a career future in fashion at the centre which was opened in June 2020.
“There are plans to increase the targeted individuals subsequently,” she explained.
