By Sunny A. David
The Special Adviser to Governor Willie Obiano on Disability Matters, Barrister Chuks Ezewuzie says his office has not received any palliative for the association of persons living with Sickle cell disease or orphanage homes in Anambra State.
He made this known to newsmen in response to a malicious report on social media that his office has received same.
Barrister Ezewuzie urged Ndi Anambra to disregard the fabricated lies that emanated from a disgruntled element seeking to profit from the COVID-19 palliatives.
The Special Adviser emphatically said that he only received palliatives for Persons with Disabilities comprising the Deaf, the Blind and the Physically challenged groups in the twenty one Local Government Areas of Anambra State.
He stated that the State Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD) has made satisfactory arrangement for equitable distribution of the palliatives through their existing structures.
Barrister Ezewuzie said they received, thirty-four bags of rice -fifteen bags of five kilograms, nineteen bags of ten kilogramm, one bag of fifty kilogramm, bottles of hand sanitizers and six cartons of noodles from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), as well as one hundred bags of ten kilogram of rice from Governor Willie Obiano through the Commissioner for Local Government Affairs and Chieftaincy Matters.
He urged Ndi Anambra and other residents of the State to discard the fabricated and malicious report on Social Media as it lacks credibility.
The Special Adviser further extends the associations profound gratitude to Governor Willie Obiano and the National Chairman of APGA Chief Dr. Victor Oye for remembering the vulnerable group at this trying time.
He finally called on other public spirited individuals and philanthropic organisations to remember persons with Disabilities in their kind gestures as government alone cannot carter for everybody, as Anambra State have over 1500 persons living with disabilities.
