Farmers/headers clash: Federal Government inaugurates National Council on Livestock Development

In other to discourage the killings and maiming of citizens, Federal Government has inaugurated the first National Council on Livestock Development (NCOLD).

Speaking during the meeting in Yola, Adamawa State, Minister of Livestock Development, Mallam Idi Muktar Maiha said open grazing has caused bloodbath in the past years creating crisis and loss of needless lives.

Adamawa State Deputy Governor, Prof. Kaletapwa Farauta George who represented Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, described Adamawa State as the home of livestock and commended the minister for staging the 1st National Council on Livestock Development in the state.

Speaking earlier, the Senate Committee chairman on Livestock, Senator Musa Mustapha said, soon Livestock would overtake oil in revenue earnings and the Senate is ready to encourage a robust business minded budget for the ministry.

House of Representatives chairman on Livestock, Hon Tasir Olawale Raji pointed out that the House committee was happy with the performances of the ministry so far in rising to the occasion on livestock development.
