FC Taraba forces El-Kanemi Warriors FC, Maiduguri to a draw, attacks referees, snatches video camera
The NNL group A1 match between Elkanemi Warriors football club of Maiduguri and FC Taraba brought us to the end of first stanza of the league with nasty experience, where Elkanemi picked a point to add to its kitty.
The match played at the Jolly Nyame Stadium Jalingo saw Elkanemi scoring its goal in the first minute of the match through Obiora Emeka after taking the kick off.
FC Taraba came into the game after series of long thrust balls that fetch the the equaliser in the 30 minute if the match to end the half 1-1.
The second half was not different as both team did not settle to float the ball round except for the occasional touches made by Elkanemi who were forced to play the one-time clearing approach. Mujeeb Odufeso’s 75 minute run beat two defenders to score the second for Elkanemi but AR 2 DEBORAH JOCOB raised her flag for offside to douse the tension on the stands.
The hostile crowd of Jalingo who paid money to watch the match in their thousands broke the COVID-19 PROTOCOLS to obtsruct the match proceedings due to the scanty security provided.
The match officials were held hostage by the fuming home supporters for over 10 minutes at half time and before resumption for second half.
At the end of the match my camera was snatched in the pitch at blast of the final whistle by organized thugs to leave us with no vedeo evidence to give the match commissioner for the beating of Center Referee and his Assistant 1. The officials of Taraba later on assured us that they will get the camera back to El-Kanemi but as at the time of writing this report it has not been returned.
