Federal Ministry of Education emerges FEDUGAM 2025 champions

The Federal Ministry of Education has emerged the overall winners at the just concluded 5th edition of the Federal Education Sector Games (FEDUGAM) 2025, in Lafia, Nasarawa State Capital.

The ministry won 19 gold, 18 silver, and 8 bronze medals.

However, the National Examinations Council (NECO), placed first runner-ups with 13 gold, 17 silver, and 17 bronze medals, while the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), won 3 gold, 3 silver, and 5 bronze medals to occupy the second runner-ups position.

In his address immediately after the closing ceremony, the Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, represented by Prof Ibrahim Ogiri Hassan of Federal University of Lafia, underscored the important of FEDUGAM in fostering unity, synergy and friendship among agencies of the Federal Ministry of Education and their state counterparts.

He narrated that, FEDUGAM serves as an avenue to which it enhances the physical, mental, and spiritual wellbeing of participants.

His words, “We are grateful to the Nasarawa State government for their warm hospitality and cooperation throughout the event.

”We are equally grateful to the Federal University of Lafia for graciously making its world-class facilities available for us throughout the duration of the games. Your contribution has been central to the smooth conduct of conduct of all sporting activities.

While appreciating all the athletes, contingents, and officials from participating agencies, he said their dedication, discipline, sportsmanship, and unwavering spirit were quite commendable, urging them sustain the temple.

He, however, congratulated medal winners for their hard work and perseverance, encouraging all participants to see themselves as winners for their courage, teamwork, and commitment.

Earlier, the Chairman of FEDUGAM, Dr Saeed Yusuf, represented by Deputy Chairman, Mr Olapade Suleiman, expressed gratitude to God for the successful conduct of the games.

He, therefore, thanked the Minister of Education for his commitment to sports development within the ministry, saying “We express our gratitude to our innovative honourable Minister who has shown special interest in sporting activities in terms of commitment of resources and creating enabling environment where sports loving staff can exhibit their talents.”

The Nasarawa State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Yakubu Kwanta, represented the Director, Administration and Supply, Helen Madaki, appreciated the organisers for choosing the state as host.

He then reiterated government’s commitment to sports development at all levels in the state.
