Federal Poly, Nyak honours Senator Lalong, Hon. Dafaan, MD North Central Development Commission, others

For his uncommon contributions in the establishment, take-off and growth of the Federal Polytechnic Nyak, former Governor of Plateau State, Senator representing Plateau South Senatorial District Simon Bako Lalong, has been honoured with the Education Legacy Award by the management of the institution.

At the award ceremony in Shendam, Rector of the Polytechnic Dr. Mikaila Zakari Ya’u said the award to Senator Lalong was in recognition of his contributions, support and passion for the school.

He said right from his time as Governor, Senator Lalong played a very big role in ensuring the establishment of the Polytechnic as well as the commencement of academic operations at a temporary site donated by the State Government at one of the Legacy projects.

Apart from that, senator Lalong also worked hard to ensure that land was acquired for the permanent site while funds allocated for the construction of infrastructure at the permanent site were released.

He also cited his constituency projects at the Polytechnic such as road infrastructure which are ongoing, solar grid, water among others.

Senator Lalong also granted scholarship to students from his senatorial district willing to study at the Polytechnic.

The award was received on behalf of the Senator by the Managing Director/CEO of the North Central Development Commission Dr. Cyril Yiltsen Tsenyil.

The Rector of the Polytechnic Dr. Zakari Ya’u also presented the award for Education Enabler to the MD/CEO NCDC Dr. Cyril Tsenyil for his support to the institution and for mobilizing people at the grassroots to buy into the institution.

Responding, Dr. Tsenyil thanked the Polytechnic for the award and delivered the apologies of the Senator who was away to Akwa Ibom on official assignment.

He said the Senator and himself remain committed to the progress of the Polytechnic which will produce great minds that will help advance solutions to the problems of the immediate environment and the nation at large.

The Member Representing Mikang, Quaan-Pan, Shendam Federal Constituency Hon. John Dafaan was also awarded.

The President/CEO of the Digital Bridge Institute David Daser also received the Digital Literacy Award for his contributions to digital literacy in the Polytechnic and Nigeria at large.
