Federal Road Safety Corps solicit support, cooperation of motorists in Borno

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Borno State, has solicited for maximum support and cooperation from motorists during the eid-el-kabir celebrations across the state.

To this effect the  FRSC has deployed about 600 special road marshals to Maiduguri metropolis to ensure a hitch-free
celebration, however, they are  not
restricted to the metropolis, but to ensure free flow of traffic in Maiduguri and environs.
This was contained in a statement issued by the sector commander, Sanusi Ibrahim, Wednesday, disclosed that; “the deployment of roads marshals, was to ensure a free flow of traffic and accident free Sallah celebrations in the state.”
According to him, the marshals would also ensure motorists comply with coronavirus (COVID-19) protocols, including physical/social distancing, wearing of face masks, and regular washing of hands with
soap and use of hand sanitizers.
He said that the command has identified some areas notorious for gridlock in the metropolis for special attention by the marshals on ground and listed the areas to include the popular Ramat Square, Dandal way, Bolori and Government House Roundabouts, others are Maduganari bypass, the Post Office Area and Monday Market.
On adherence to traffic flow, he said,“The Command will also use some operational strategy such as mobile and static patrol, foot team patrol, traffic control during the Sallah celebrations.”
And  appealed for maximum support from motorists by being law-abiding and adherence to all traffic rules and regulations as well as COVID-19 protocols.
It could be recalled that the Federal Government has declared Thursday and Friday as public holidays for the Eid-el-Kabir celebration nation wide.
