FG/IFAD/VCDP additional financing kicks-off

The Anambra State Programme Coordinator, FG/IFAD VCDP, Mr. Nnamdi Agwuncha has announced the commencement of the FG/IFAD VCDP Additional-Financing following the conclusion of the six years programme on December 31, 2019.

FG/IFAD VCDP is an agricultural intervention programme that focuses on the development of Rice and cassava as well as their value chains.

The Additional Financing, which is a three-year programme that became effective on first January 2020, was attracted by Governor Willie Obiano in 2014 to achieve the State agricultural blue print.

According to Mr. Agwuncha, who announced that the Additional Financing contains more support for farmers, women and youths, unveiled that different business models have been developed for their empowerment and self-reliance.

Also speaking, the State Agric Production Officer, FG/IFAD VCDP, Mr. Emmanuel Chukwukwelu noted that they had already embarked on an aggressive sensitization of the newly joined council areas to bring them at par with their counterparts at the pilot benefiting council areas.

Mr. Chukwukwelu assured of their readiness to bequeath to farmers, the best agronomic practices in rice and cassava as well as early disbursement of farm inputs and other implements to achieve their mandate of fighting poverty.

Also speaking on the Additional Financing, the state Knowledge Management and Communication Officer, FG/IFAD VCDP, Mr. Henry Anagboso, who announced more collaboration with relevant agencies and stakeholders, also testified the robust nature of the FG/IFAD VCDP Additional Financing, saying that when fully implemented across the benefiting states, Nigeria will achieve food security and increase its GDP.
