A dawn fire on Wednesday destroyed property valued at millions of naira in a factory located in Nnewichi, Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The blaze, which reportedly began around 5:30 a.m., ravaged large quantities of tissue paper, baby clothing, and diapers stored in the facility.
A resident, Obinna Okoye, said the incident caught many in the neighbourhood unawares as they were still asleep when the fire broke out.
He noted, however, that firefighters quickly arrived at the scene and worked to contain the inferno.
Confirming the development, the Fire Service Commander in charge of the Nnewi zone, F. Jerry, said the situation had been brought under control.
He added that investigations were underway to determine the cause of the fire.
