The immediate past National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Ozo Victor Oye, has praised the tight security and impressive voter turnout witnessed during the ongoing Anambra State governorship election.
Oye, who cast his vote at Polling Unit 003, Ebeakpu Square II, Amawbia, in Awka South Local Government Area around 9:00 a.m., described the election process as smooth and well-organized. According to him, accreditation and voting commenced early around 8:40 a.m. across the three polling units in the area (003, 004, and 012).
He lauded the early start as a sign of improved efficiency by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and expressed satisfaction with the general conduct of the exercise.
Speaking to journalists after voting, Oye predicted a resounding victory for the incumbent governor, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, citing the governor’s performance and popularity across the State.
“We are voting for the security of our future. Everyone here wants to ensure that the right person continues to lead Anambra State,” Oye said. “Forget that I belong to APGA; the truth is that Soludo has no rival in this election. He has performed excellently, and the people love him. We are voting for security and progress.”
Oye also commended the professionalism of security operatives deployed across the State, noting that their visible presence had ensured a calm and orderly atmosphere at polling centers.
“The security arrangement is commendable. Officers are everywhere, and everywhere is peaceful,” he remarked.
The former APGA Chairman added that the peaceful and transparent conduct of the election reflected growing public confidence in both INEC and the State government’s commitment to credible governance.
Meanwhile, correspondents monitoring the election reported a strong presence of Police officers across several polling units, maintaining order and assisting voters in a generally peaceful environment.
