Former Governor of Plateau State Simon Bako Lalong has paid special tribute to late Judge of the Federal High Court Hon. Justice Peter Hoommuk Mallong who died recently at the age of 60.
Lalong who was at the funeral mass of the deceased held at the Immaculate Heart Catholic Church Angwan Nbuan, Shendam Local Government Area of Plateau State said the late Judge was an upright man who always stood by the truth.
He recalled his long standing relationship with the late Justice Mallong whom he said always advised him and spoke truth to him even when many were hesitant or afraid to do so.
Lalong said in his legal career both at the bench and bar, Justice Mallong always made a mark by giving voice to the oppressed and downtrodden while ensuring that law and order prevailed at all times.
While consoling his family, friends and colleagues, Lalong urged them to take solace in the fact the deceased served Plateau State and Nigeria without blemish before his demise.
He promised to continue to support the building of the Church that the late jurist had spearheaded in the community.
In his Homily, Rev. Fr. Godfrey Gopep reminded the people to make God the centre of their lives as death is inevitable and would come unannounced.
He said the deceased was a man that committed his life to God and service to humanity which will continue to be remembered for many years to come.
Other speakers including NBA Jos Chapter representative, Kuru Old Boys Association, and representative of the family said the death of late Justice Mallong is a great loss that create a big vacuum.
The remains of the late Hon. Justice Peter Hoommuk Mallong was later laid to rest at the family burial ground.
Governor Lalong also paid homage to the Long Gamai of Gamailand HRH Miskoom Martin Shaldas III who congratulated his for his nomination and successful screening as Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria by President Bola Tinubu.
