The former Minister of  Sports,  Solomon Dalung has described the demise of Reverend, Dr. Alexander Mamdip Lar, one-time President of the Church of Christ in Nation, (COCIN) as a loss not only to the state but to Christianity as a whole.

He said,  “Baba indeed lived a life well and truly spent in faithful service to the Almighty God. He was one exemplary leader and devoted Servant of God, whose unquestionable commitment to the Service of our Lord Jesus Christ was evident in his passion, sacrifice and missionary activities in Nigeria and beyond, to which he committed his entire life.
“He was the 2nd President of Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) of Tarok extraction (the tribe the former minister hails from) after late Reverend Damina Bawado. Before his home calling Rev.Dr. Lar was Chairman, Board of Trustees of COCIN, a position he held until his death. He served as a member of the Board for over 50 years.”
According to him, the history of the Church on the Plateau and Nigeria at large cannot be complete without reference to the “legacies of Baba Alexander Lar especially in the growth and transformation of COCIN,  Spiritual Teaching, Mentorship, Leadership and Community Service. He was a model in selfless service to the body of Christ.”
He then concluded  that “It is my sincere prayer that God Almighty will comfort the immediate family of Baba Alexander,  Tarok Nation, COCIN Family and the good people of Plateau State and grant us the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable.”
