Fulani leader denies knowing perpetrators of Kumben killing

By Raymond Gukas, Jos
The Fulani community leader of Kulben in Kombun district of Mangu Local Government Area in Plateau State, Ardo Isa Umaru has distanced his subjects from allegations that they were responsible for the killings of 12 persons last week.
The Ardo who expressed sadness over the loss of lives and destruction recorded in the incident, said the action was commendable and devilish in its entirety.
He stated this when the member,  representing Mangu/Bokkos Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives,  Solomon Maren visited the village during the mass burial of the victims of the attack.
Umaru said, “If I knew those who did it I will personally hunt and hand them over to securities but this thing happened in the night and no one saw their faces.
“But I am praying for God to expose them and if truly they are my subjects, I will never spare them because they want to spoil the good life we have shared. I am over 60 years old and this is where I was born. I don’t know anywhere else and I won’t let children that don’t know the value of communal living bring problems to us,” he stressed.
The federal lawmaker who expressed concern over the wanton assault and killing of innocent lives, said the incident would be investigated and the law shall take its cause.
He appealed for calm and enjoined the people to put the sad incident behind them and wait for government action which he assured, will do everything possible to fish out the perpetrators and bring them to book.
