Distinguished guests, Ladies and gentlemen, Members of Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry,

Today, we celebrate the inauguration of a new chapter in the history of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry. As I begin my tenure as President, with the Deputy Presidents and Vice Presidents, I am humbled by the trust and honor bestowed upon me to lead this esteemed organization. Together, let us embark on a journey that fortifies our foundation and steers us towards a future brimming with accomplishments, recognition, and shared prosperity.

For over 37 years, Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry has been a pillar of economic growth, a hub for trade facilitation, and an advocate for our members. Our commitment to excellence and service has led to setting unparalleled benchmarks within our industry.

We have played a pivotal role in promoting trade and facilitating business partnerships. Our trade missions, exhibitions, and business matchmaking events have connected our members with local and international counterparts, expanding their reach and contributing to the economic development of our region and our nation.

I must pay respects to our Past Presidents, our heroes past on whose shoulders we stand today.
As we move forward, our focus will be on

1. Improving our value proposition
2. Encouraging participatory membership
3. Infrastructural development
4. Professionalizing our Secretariat
5. Repositioning our brand
6. Legislative and Policy advocacy
7. Ease of doing business
8. Expanding market opportunities

As we stand at this juncture, let us unite with optimism, determination, and a shared sense of purpose. Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry has an illustrious past, and together, we will script an even brighter future. I am honored to lead as your President and eagerly anticipate collaborating with each of you to realize our collective vision of a thriving business community in Abuja.

I extend my appreciation and congratulations to the outgoing President, Alhaji Abubakar Al-Mujtaba, and the entire EXCO for their invaluable contributions to the Chamber’s remarkable milestones and achievements. Under your stewardship, we witnessed significant strides, and we are sincerely appreciative of your unwavering commitment in steering us toward these successes. In appreciation of your service, I wish to honour the staff who dedicated themselves, to the admiration of their peers, to the work of ACCI.

A special acknowledgment is also due to the outgoing Director General, Dr. Victoria Akai. Your immeasurable support and relentless hard work while you served have been pivotal in driving the Chamber’s vision forward.

Distinguished ladies and gentlemen, on the 8th of February, 2024, the ACCI shall invite the world to the inauguration of:

1. The President and Executive Committee of ACCI
2. The Chair and members of Governing Councils of the 4 Centers and the Cooperatives, and
3. The Chair and members of the standing Trade Groups.

What this means is that this Exco shall reconstitute the Trade Groups and Governing Councils to get more members involved in the administration of the ACCI. We urge any member who is desirous of service to the Chamber to indicate interest through the DG as soon as possible.

Abuja Chamber of Commerce’s best days are yet to come, and with our concerted efforts and unwavering commitment, we will inscribe a new chapter of success, recognition, and prosperity for our members and the entire business community.
