The Country Director, Global Peace Foundation Nigeria (GPF), Reverend John Joseph Hayab, has commended the Chief of Chawai His Royal Highness Alhaji Yahaya Muhammad and the people of the Chiefdom for covenant on enthroning peace and tranquility in the area.
Hayab gave the commendation at Ungwan Magaji and Kiffin Chawai communities, during the Celebration and prayers for sustainable peace and security of Lives and Property in Kauru Local Government, organized by Chawai Chiefdom and Kauru Peace and reconciliation committee.
He noted that Global Peace Foundation has been interacting with the Leaders, and different groups and societies in Chawai Chiefdom since the time the place was bedeviled with crises geared towards finding normalcy and lasting solution.
It was against this backdrop he said, the people have come together, addressed their common needs and challenges and have a covenant of living in mutual respect and understanding under the leadership of their Chief.
He thanked The United States Agency For International Development (USAID) for it’s support to Global Peace Foundation on its building a global network of grassroots leaders to develop community, National and regional peace building models, as the foundation for ethical, cohesive, and compassionate societies guided by the vision of One Family under God.
He added that USAID has given Global Peace Foundation am extension of addition six months to continue it’s campaign on value based peace building and conflict prevention, which has prompted them to organize training on Fiinancial Literracy for selected members of Cooperative Societies, and at the end of it, seed money shall be provided for them.
While urging them to avoid all tendencies that would bridged the peace been enjoyed in the area, he promised the support of the NGO anytime the need arises, and told them to know that all human beings are one family under God.
Also speaking at the ocassion, the Northern Coordinator, Sheikh Abdullahi Halliru Maraya expressed his joy over the return of peace in the area, which according to him is a victory to all mankind.
Maraya observed that, Man is a very important being, making it necessary for every community to put all hands on deck in ensuring that lasting peace is actualized in the Country, in addition to
worshiping God and servimg humanity which are the two basic important things in a man’s life
In a keen address, ,the Executive Chairman Kauru Local Government Area Alhaji Bashir Dawaki commended Global peace initiative for augmentin the State and Local Government effort in ensuring peaceful Coexistence all over the area.
Represented by the his Vice Chairman Mohammed Augustine Baye, he underscored the importance of Global peace Foundation in restoring hope and mutual trust among the people of the Local Government, up to the present level of their resolve to live in peace and harmony paving way for meaningful development.
The Chairman urged them to sustain the tempo which without, there would not be any meaningful development.
In his address, The Chief of Chawai His Royal Highness, Alhaji Yahaya Muhammad, expressed gratitude to God for making it possible that the Chiefdom is secured.
He commended the government, Global peace Foundation and all agencies that have contributed to restoring peace in his Chiefdom noting that lack of proper communication has posed challenges in some areas when the need arises owing to the fact that it was the report they receive at the right time that always prompted them to act or seek for assistance to the appropriate channel.
He expressed optimism that the security challenges bedevilling the area will soon become thing of the past, praying to God for his intervention on the miscreants wrecking havoc on lives and properties, and appeal to the people to obey the rules of law and all constituted authorities by avoiding all tendencies that would cause rowdiness again.
