Global Right and the Kukah Center have called for a better women’s empowerment and inclusive decision-making,
They made the case at celebration of International Women’s Day in Kafanchan, Jema’a Local Government Area in Kaduna State.
The initiative, titled “Building Bridges for Women Inclusion in Peace Building in Kaduna Communities,” aimed at bridging gaps and breaking barriers to enhance women’s active participation in critical decision-making processes.
The event brought together diverse perspectives, fostering dialogue on strategies to promote gender equality and amplify the voices of women in various spheres within Kaduna and beyond.
In a keynote address Mrs. Grace Yohannah Abbin of Salama Sexual Assault Referral Center, Kafanchan, challenged traditional stereotypes, emphasizing that being a woman goes beyond physical attributes.
Abbin asserted, “Having looks, vagina, boobs, and hips doesn’t make you a woman. A woman is the one who feeds a man with encouragement and ideas.”

She highlighted the multifaceted role of women, emphasizing qualities such as wisdom in financial matters, emotional intelligence, and the ability to inspire. “A woman does not run her mouth with sarcasm and insult just to prove a point; rather, her words are gracious and can heal a broken heart.”
Abbin encouraged women to embrace their roles as caretakers and managers, stating, “A woman is a womb that can nurture and birth destinies. She doesn’t just bear babies but bears ideas and inspiration anytime, anywhere.”
Abbin emphasized the importance of integrity, honesty, and the ability to provide comfort. “A woman is not the one who deceives a man just to eat his money, but the one who is honest and sincere in any relationship,” she said.
In her welcome address, Secretary Community Dialogue Committee (CDC), Zonkwa, Mrs. Cecelia Bakut, urged women to reflect on the journeys of those who have successfully achieved their goals in Kaduna State and Nigeria as a whole.
She emphasized the significance of self-confidence and encouraged women to believe in their capabilities and strive for their aspirations.
The Project Coordinator, Kukah Center, Methodius Karfe, encouraged participants to cultivate confidence in women, emphasizing the pivotal role of involving them in decision-making processes right from within the home.
Karfe’s advocacy underscores a collective effort to build bridges and pave the way for increased representation and influence of women in shaping important decisions at all levels.
As part of the celebrations, a panel discussion took place addressing the challenges and potential solutions for enhancing women’s inclusion in decision-making processes.
The event brought together diverse perspectives on fostering gender equality and empowering women in leadership roles.
