Gombe civil defence junior officers raises alarm over extortion of fund by command officials

The junior officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) Gombe state command has raised an alarm that the management of the command is using all its powers to extort funds from Junior personnel’s without due process.The personnel’s who spoke to our correspondent in an interview in Gombe  said they were surprise to pay the sum of N200 each meant for emolument form which was given out at the National headquarters for free of charge.They argued that the promotion letters which was issued by national headquarters to give those who were do for promotion was equally asked by the management of Gombe state command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps to pay the sum of N2000 each before issuing the promotion letters to them.The personnel’s who spoke on the condition of anonymity said they have no option than to comply with the directives given by the command.According to them, we are calling on the national headquarters to do the needful by constituting a committee to investigate the matter.The command under durex forcefully ask some of the personnel to write undertaking that their money will be paid in January salaries before their letters of promotion is given to them they said.When contacted the Public Relations Officer Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps Gombe state command on the matter, DSC Sa’ad Buhari refuted the allegations saying that the personnel’s that lodge the complaint  did that in order to dent the image of the command.He said the command is not aware of such allegations meted on them.So as we are concerned, the command and it’s management are working tirelessly to ensure safety of personnel’s.
