Gombe disburses loans to farmers for dry season farming

Gombe State Government has said it will do its best to ensure that farmers in the state benefit from loan to carried out their dry farming season.
Commissioner of Rural Community Development and Cooperative, Hon. Usman Jafun Biri stated this during an interview with our correspondent in his office.
He said government on their part made it necessary to assist farmers with loan across the state in order to acquire bumper harvest.
The loan which he said will be disbursed to farmers within February and March to have a successful dry farming season is to assist rural farmers.
According to him, a World Bank-assisted project which Gombe state government is expecting not lest than N50 million will go along way where ministry of rural community development and cooperative will use the counter part fund to earmarked 750 kilometer road across the 11 local government councils areas.
He said each local government area is expected to benefit a 100 kilometer road to enable rural farmers take their commodities to the nearest market.
He explained that government have achieved tremendously which he said last year no fewer than 625 farmers who collected loans from government have started remitting their pledged, adding that government have received 60 percent of the loan collected from them while 40 percent is at the pipe line.
