Gombe Governor, Yahaya inaugurates community policing advisory committee

Gombe State Government has inaugurated a 21-member advisory committee to manage the affairs of community policing.

The Emir of Gombe, Alhaji Abubakar Shehu Abubakar will be the chairman while the state Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Maikudi Shehu will serve as co-chair.

Inaugurating the committee at Government House chamber Gombe, Monday Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya said it was  necessary for government to key into this by providing adequate security to the people through community policing.
He said something urgent has to be done to protect Gombe to avoid what is happening in the neighbouring states that share same boundary.
Governor Yahaya called on stakeholders to double up in fight against crime even as he said security is everybody business.
Speaking during the inaugural ceremony, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Abubakar Adamu represented by the Assistant Inspector General of Police in-charge of Zone 3, Yola, Haliru Abubakar Gwandu said community policing which was formed in 2014 the Nigeria Police Force has focused for effective service delivery to the people.

According to him, the implementation of community policing nation will yield positive result.
On his part, Gombe State Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Maikudi Shehu said he will supervise the committee activities strictly and get back to the governor from time to time.
He appealed to both the traditional and religious leaders not to relent in supporting the committee to succeed in their activities.
