The spate of resignation by aides of Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has gradually crept into the structure of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state as the Financial Secretary of the party in Gombe Local Government Area, Ibrahim Adamu Sabon Riga, has resigned from his position as well as membership of the party.
The resignation was contained in a letter dated 14th February, 2022 addressed to the Chairman of the APC in the local government.
Ibrahim Adamu Sabon Riga stated in the letter that his resignation was because he considered the leadership of the party in the state to be ineffective.
According to him, “The party right from inception made promises to its members and the general public of good governance but has failed from all ramifications. This is due to the fact that virtually all the promises made none is fulfilled as there is no record of any achievement regarding its schedules”.
According to him, “Secondly, the party through its leadership, recognized not the contributions of its strong members who sacrificed their time and resources to the success of the party in the state. Most of the party members who tirelessly worked for the party were less considered”.
He added that, “More so, State House of Assembly Contestants were lagged behind for almost three years now without any special consideration as promised by the government. And this is one of the reasons why I, their leader decided to resign from the party leadership” .
He further wrote that, “Furthermore, the party from state level down to the local government level is lacking in the discharge of its duties. This is because of the fact that I raised some issues while in the cabinet severally but nothing was done to mend those loopholes.”
Adamu Sabonriga concluded that, “Therefore, in order for me to defend the rights of my people, it is better to resign so as to enable me work properly for my constituents”.
