Gombe Police arrest, parades 17 suspects for various alleged offences

Gombe State Police Command has arrested Uman Ali, aged 20 years, David Babayo aged 19 years, Ibrahim Abdullahi aged 18 years, Suleiman Alhassan aged 18 years, Abubakar Alhassan aged 18 years and Mohammed Sani Ibrahim 19 years for alleged Kalare activies and being in possession of dangerous weapons. 

It was reported that, on 30th/06/2023 at about 2100hrs, a team of Operation Hattara while on routine patrol during Sallah Durbar of His Royal Highness, the Emir of Gombe, successfully arrested the above mentioned suspects who were allegedly found in possession of dangerous weapons such as cutlasses, sword and other sharp objects with the intention to attack innocent people and rob them of their valuables, between Bolari and Nasarawo quarters Gombe.

During the course of investigation, the above mentioned suspects have confessed that they belong to a gang of criminals who specialise in attacking and dispossessing people of their valuables within Gombe metropolis. 

They will soon be charge to court upon the conclusion of the investigation as various exhibits were recovered from them including two cutlasses, two knives and a sword. 

Also arrested for house trespass and culpable homicide is Haladu Abubakar alias ‘Said Baushe’ aged 22 years of Dawaki qtrs Gombe.

On the 30th/06/2023 at about 0330hrs, a formal complaint was received from one Adamu Ibrahim of Wuro-kesa qtrs area of Gombe metropolis who brought his wife to Gombe Divisional Headquarters in a pool of blood. 

He alleged that on the same date at about 0300hrs, unidentified person trespassed into his house, his wife, one Zainab Adamu of the same address saw the suspect and she raised alarm which woke the husband up. 

She engaged the suspect in a struggle and the suspect brought out a knife and stabbed her on her left hand and ran away. 

On receipt of the complaint, Police Detectives from Gombe Division rushed the victim to Federal Teaching Hospital (FTH), Gombe for medical attention, later she died while receiving treatment as a result of excessive bleeding.

The Detectives swung into action and proceeded to the scene of crime where they recovered one knife and a torch light. 

During the course of investigation, it was revealed that one Haladu Abubakar of Dawaki qtrs, a member of hunters group was seen with a wound by some residents of the area which he claimed to have sustained when he stepped on a sharp object while pursuing bush meat. 

The Suspect was immediately arrested where he confessed to the crime as the following exhibits were recovered as follows, a dane gun, a knife and a torch light. Case will soon be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigation.

The Police also arrested Auwal Mohammed alias shasha aged 20 years of Jeka da fari quarters Gombe for criminal conspiracy and armed robbery. 

On the 27/06/2023 at about 1700hrs, a distress call was received from Buba-shango quarters that an unknown person was sighted lying down inside a drainage looking lifeless. 

On receipt of the information, Police detectives, from Gombe Division rushed to the scene and took the body to Specialist Hospital where he was confirmed dead by the medical Doctor.

Investigation revealed that on the same date at about 1650hrs, one Khadija Abdullahi Maji aged 15 years of Buba-shango was together with her two younger brothers behind Science II Buba-shango when three unknown persons criminally conspired and armed themselves with knives, attacked and robbed her of her GSM phone Techno Pop 7 valued at the sum of N60,000. 

When she raised alarm, a motorcylist pursued them, then one of the supsects fell down and was lynched by angry mob and dumped the body  into the drainage.

Later, one of the suspects that fled by name, Auwal Mohammed alias shasha aged 25 years of Jeka da fari quarters was arrested in connection to the case by detectives and he confessed to have committed the crime voluntarity.

Furthermore, Salihu Mohammed, Umar Haruna aged 18 years and Mohammed Abdulkadir aged 32 years were arrested for criminial conspiracy, shop breaking theft as well as aiding and abetment. 

On the 3/07/2023 at about 0500hrs, a distress call received from London Maidaurawa quarters Gombe, that a fertilizer store belonging to one Muhammed Ahmed has been burgled by the above mentioned suspects. 

They criminally conspired along with Muhammed Abdulkadir that gave them his motorcycle, Bajaj Boxer, red in colour to make use of to convey the three bags of urea fertilizers, on the  process Umar Haruna was beaten up by angry  mob as a result he sustained injuries while Salihu muhammed fled away and abandoned the motorcycle and the three bags of fertilizer. 

On receipt of information, a team of patrol 999 rushed to the scene and arrested the injured suspect and he was taken to Specialist Hospital for treatment. One Motorcycle and three bags of fertilizer were recovered as exhibits.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Oqua Etim commended the operatives involved in the operation/investigation for their swift action and dedication to duty. 

He also urged them to continue to work tirelessly to ensure that criminals are brought to justice and that the State remains safe and secure for all residents.
