Set ’89 Governor, Gadafi Asemanya

The Government College, Makurdi Old Boys Association, (MOBA) set ’89 Governor, Mr Gadafi Asemanya wants the national body of the association to take over the responsibility of conducting graduation and award ceremony of graduands to ease the school of the financial burden.

Mr Asemanya who stated this at this year’s graduation, speech, prize-giving and awards day celebration commended the school principal, Mrs Agnes Dookenger for her dexterity at ensuring that the ceremony which last held thirteen years ago become a success.

The MOBA set ’89 Governor thanked his classmates for their contributions towards the development of the college and enjoined them to do more.

Speaking at the occasion, Governor Samuel Ortom represented by the Commissioner for Science and Technology and supervising Commissioner for Education, Mr Godwin Oyiwona noted some of the challenges facing the college and assured of more attention to the school in subsequent budgets.

Earlier, Principal of the school, Mrs Agnes Dookenger enumerated some of the challenges of the institution to include delapidated structure and inadequate ICT equipments and appealed for support.

On his part, the Headboy, David Aondofa thanked management of the college for inculcating in them values that would shape their lives as leaders of tomorrow and promised to be good ambassadors of the college.

Highlight of the occasion was the donation of prizes by Mr Gadafi Asemanya and his NGO, TRAVSI to the best student in junior and secondary classes as well as the most hardworking staff and longest serving non teaching staff, while MOBA set ’89 donated awards in all the subjects.

Mr Asemanya also donated prizes on behalf of Late Colonel Ochefu and Mammy Ochefu to the most hardworking staff and longest serving non teaching staff of the college, while prizes were also donated on behalf of Professor Yakubu Ochefu to the best graduating student in sciences, arts, commercial, social sciences, History and other major subjects.
