Governor Bala Mohammed has ordered for the demolition of a house in Bauchi metropolis suspected to be a hideout of criminally minded people.
The house situated at Mahaukata Quarters in the city of Bauchi was Wednesday evening around 6:00 pm pulled down by a combined team of security agents and officials of the State Urban Development Board (UDB).
The house which poses as security threat to the people was believed to be a dent of hardened criminals where weapons of mass destruction were said to be kept for criminal operations
Following a tip-off by the Security agents, a big sack loaded with over 1000 rounds of ammunitions were said to have been discovered in the house, in addition to some uniforms of army, police and immigration
Led by chief of staff, Bauchi Government House, Dr. Ladan Salihu, the demolition exercise was hailed by resident of the area who earlier reported to security operatives about the suspected house, being described as a distribution point of criminality.
A combined team of security operatives and officials of the State Urban Development Board led by the Chief of Staff, Government House, Dr. Ladan Salihu for the immediate demolished the suspected house.
The security operatives have hitherto thoroughly combed the house following reports to them by residents of the area of suspected foul play, as the house is being opened mostly by mid-nights for activities by the suspects.
He wondered how such a house which was not an armoury could have said to be having such ammunitions for sophisticated weapons, warning government cannot handle such security breach with leniency.
“Security operatives have discovered a big bag containing ammunitions, sophisticated bullets that are being used or permitted to be used only by the military and nobody else”, Salihu said
He therefore called on every citizen to be extra-vigilant and mindful of suspicious persons around their vicinities to ensure that any suspected person moving within, be quickly inform the security forces or government through appropriate channels.
According to him, the house demolition would serve as deterrent for those who wish to engage in acts of criminality of this scale so as to continue to keep the peace and ensure that citizens sleep with their eyes closed.
