Governor Idris flags off distribution of 210 trucks of assorted grains in Kebbi

Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has kick started the statewide distribution of 1,260,000 bags of assorted grains in Maiyama of Maiyama Local Government Area.

About 500 households were pencilled down as beneficiaries amongst who included federal and state civil servants, security agents, military, paramilitary, NLC, traditional leaders as well as trader unions.

Governor Idris said each local government would be given ten trucks of assorted grains totalling six thousand bags warning that anybody found diverting the commodities would face the wrath of the law.

He however called on members of the opposition parties as well as the general public to support his administration’s developmental strides in its concerted efforts of cushioning the effects of fuel subsidy removal.

“This pallatives would have direct impact on the well being of families and there would be happiness, self esteem and productivity in homes and among members of the public”, he said.

On other ways of ensuring food security, the Governor explained “We have promised to take agriculture to the highest level for the benefit of our people. We have enrolled in the federal government 2023 and 2024 dry season farming program.

“As we move to cushion the effects of the subsidy removal, just recently government distributed 6,750 tons of fertilizer totaling 136,000 bags at N2.3bn free of charge to farmers in the state” the Governor further revealed.
