Governor Kefas pledges rolling out palliatives Monday as Taraba labour congress joins protest

Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas has assured protesting workers that all issues concerning their welfare, demands and other sundry matters will soon be a thing of the past, just as he pledged sharing of palliatives next Monday.

Governor Kefas who stated this Wednesday while addressing members of organized labour who were on a protest at Government House, Jalingo, commended them for orderly conduct.

The Governor said his administration was not ignorant of their present suffering, but pointed out that he has come to serve the people and not to oppress them.

According to him, constructive criticism is a welcome development which he said will enable him to succeed in governance and challenged workers to see themselves and government as partners in progress.

He pointed out that his administration will continue to accord labour the necessary attention and reiterated plans to roll out palliatives next week Monday.

He recalled that recent pronouncement on free education in the state is gradually receiving attention.

The Governor urged labour leaders to exercise restrain on the part of government bearing in mind that subsidy has come to stay and that all hands should be on deck to work towards it.

Earlier, state chairman of Nigerian Labour Congress, Comrade Peter Jediel and its counterpart from Trade Union Congress (TUC), Comrade Albasu Sule  told the Governor that they were in Government House on a national issue which involves all the 36 states of the federation particularly on the recent removal of fuel subsidy and demand of N 200,000 monthly minimum wage for workers among other.
