Governor Kefas signs Memorandum of Understanding with Chinese construction giant CCECC for Taraba Master Plan

The Governor of Taraba State, Dr Agbu Kefas has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a Chinese Construction Civil Engineering Construction Company (CCECC) for the Taraba Master plan at the TY Danjuma House in Asokoro, Abuja.

The signing of the MoU is part of the efforts of the Governor to implement the Taraba Development Master Plan 2024 and secure key partnerships that will facilitate the transformation of the State.

During the signing ceremony, the Governor expressed the prospects of the collaboration of the state with the CCECC, adding that it will unlock the immense potential of the Taraba State.

The Governor who extolled the huge natural potentials of the state, said the move by his administration will have great impacts on the generations yet unborn.

He explained that engaging all the stakeholders in the development processes will forge a new course that will propel the State towards achieving its development goals.

“The ongoing rehabilitation and reconstruction of the Danbaba Suntai airport in Jalingo, which is the gateway to the State is a demonstration of the commitment of my administration towards the transformation of the State and to open it up to various opportunities,” the Governor noted.

He added that the discussion at the signing of the MoU focused on three critical areas energy, infrastructural development, economy and food security, among others which are essentials to the growth of the state.

“I hope that in no distant time, the State is going to take the lead in energy distribution, a new hydropower project with CCECC will be launched to distribute energy to the State and other parts of the country,” Dr. Kefas maintained.

The Governor said by working with CCECC, the state can expand its road networks, improve transportation, manage its natural resources effectively and improve the economy of the state.

On food security and sustainability, the Governor said mechanized farming and better storage and processing facilities will be pursued.

The President of CCECC, Mr Chan Sichang, who was represented by the Chief Executive Director of the Company, Mr Zhou Dongping, said their partnership with the Taraba State Government is a remarkable step in the development of the State adding that they better understood the importance of infrastructure to the progress and prosperity of the state.

He expressed the readiness of the Company in serving the State pointing out that CCECC has over the years, become a major service provider in Nigeria.

In his remarks, Engineer Alex Oniegbu of the Company said the Taraba Development Master Plan 2024 did not only concentrate on Jalingo, the State capital but made provisions for the development of Senatorial zones and all the Local Government areas of the State.

He said their firm undertook the Abuja Phase Two Master Plan and expressed hope that the State will soon be a force to reckon with as far as development is concerned.

The signing of the MoU for the Taraba State Master Plan 2024 was witnessed by the State Deputy Governor Aminu Alkali and members of the National Assembly from the state, the Minister of State for Regional Development, Barrister Uba Maigari and other top Government functionaries.
