Governor of Taraba State, Dr Agbu Kefas has called on the people of the state to celebrate Christmas with joy, responsibility, and a strong commitment to peace, unity and safety.
In his Christmas broadcast to the people, the Governor described the festive season as a period for sober reflection on love, sacrifice, hope, and peace, urging citizens to renew their faith in God and strengthen the bonds of unity across families and communities.
Dr. Kefas cautioned residents to celebrate the yuletide responsibly, emphasising that festivities should not come at the expense of lives or public peace.
“I advised citizens to be mindful of safety on the roads, in their homes, markets, places of worship, and other public spaces, stressing that protection of lives must remain the cardinal principle of the celebrations,” he noted.
“Security remains a top priority of this administration, security agencies have been fully deployed across the State and are working in collaboration with community leaders, traditional institutions, and local vigilance groups to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free festive period,” Kefas said.
He called on residents to cooperate with security personnel by obeying the law, being vigilant, and promptly reporting any suspicious activities.
Governor Kefas reaffirmed the commitment of his administration to creating opportunities for prosperity, safeguarding lives and property, and making Taraba State a peaceful environment where people can work, worship, and conduct businesses without fear or hindrance.
The Governor also encouraged residents to use the Christmas season as a time for forgiveness, reconciliation, and compassion, urging them to support the vulnerable and extend kindness to one another regardless of tribe, religion, or social status noting that peace is a shared responsibility that must be upheld collectively.
