Governor Mohammed assures improved girls education in Bauchi, says key for development

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has described girls education as key to any responsible government, hence need of his administration to remain committed to advancing girls’ education.

Governor Mohammed made the remarks at the Traditional and Religious Leaders’ Conference on improving girls’ education in the North-East organized by the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) in Bauchi.

The project is in collaboration with the World Bank, Federal Ministry of Education, and Bauchi State Government.

He highlighted the achievements of his administration in promoting girls education and appreciate the critical role of traditional and religious leaders in promoting and advancement of school enrollment, retention, and completion, particularly among girls.

The National Coordinator of AGILE Project, Amina Buba Haruna praised the support of the state government towards successful implementation of the project in the state and called for sustainance of the effort.

Representative of the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa appreciated the state government’s proactive measures in addressing challenges in girls education noting that the gesture is in line with the Federal Government’s education development initiative.

The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, emphasized the need for collective action by traditional rulers, religious figures, and community members to ensure the success of education programmes for girls.

The state commissioner Ministry of Education, Dr. Jamila Dahiru, represented by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Ali Babayo maintain the need for collective efforts towards consolidation on the success.
