Governor Obiano lays foundation for Anambra comprehensive medical centre at Awkuzu

Anambra State Governor Chief Willie Obiano has performed the ground breaking ceremony of Anambra State Comprehensive Medical Centre, Awkuzu in Oyi Local Government Area.
The medical centre was sponsored by Adinma Awkuzu Association.
The association is a body of elites from Awkuzu who came together for the development of the community, intervening in all aspects of lives  towards  improving the lives of its citizens.
Performing the foundation laying ceremony, Governor Obiano represented by the Commisioner for Trade, Commerce and Wealth Creation, Sir. Uchenna Okafor, lauded the association for the various projects it initiated,  noting  that with the high security standard put in place by his administration, investors and Ndi Anambra both in home and diaspora can now invest and improve  development  of the state without fear.
The Governor said the State government remains poised to continue supporting programmes, project and sound initiatives by organized private sector as long as it would add value and benefits  to the society. 
Earlier in his address, the Chairman Of the Association, Sir. Pat Igwilo, explained that the project was to transform Awkuzu to a destination point in health care delivery and has maternal and childcare, cardiology and oncology centre that could provide services to  the entire South East Region.
He disclosed that the substructure of Phase one has reached sixty percent completion fourteen days after the approval of the project, stating that in the next eight months the Phase one will be commissioned.
The traditional ruler of the community, Igwe Charles Anikweze appreciated Governor Obiano for approving the construction of the medical centre in Awkuzu, and lauded the association for taking proactive and progressive steps towards the development of the community. 
In their seperate speeches, some executive members of the association,  including Barrister Mark Okoye and Sir. Igine Nwene said the signature project of the association is intended to make a mark in health care delivery.
Part of activities making the event were, unveiling of the foundation plague by Governor Obiano, induction of new members into the association and honouring  Emeritus Archbishop Maxwell Anikwenwa and Igwe Anikweze as patrons.
