Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda has charged the state indigene working in the diaspora to support each other when opportunities arise at any level.
The Governor made this charge during an official visit to the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, Ambassador Nura Abba Rimi, and other Katsina indigene working in the ministry.
The Governor said, “It is truly a pleasure to be here today. Since Alhaji Nura assumed the position of Permanent Secretary, this is the first time we, as representatives of the government and people of Katsina State, are visiting him in his official capacity. So, we are here today to officially congratulate him and to wish him success in this important national assignment.”
Governor Radda also explained that the visit aims to engage with the Honourable Minister as part of the administration’s ongoing efforts to forge stronger collaborations that will bring tangible development to Katsina State—especially through this ministry, the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment.
Drawing from his experience as former Director-General of Small and Medium Enterprises Development of Nigeria (SMEDAN), Governor Radda emphasized the importance of leveraging federal connections for regional development.
“This is a powerful and influential ministry, housing some of the most significant parastatals in the country. That knowledge and experience are part of what informs our visit today—because I believe in using every opportunity to support not just Katsina, but the entire northern region,” the Governor remarked.
The Governor stressed the importance of service in leadership, quoting the late Malam Aminu Kano: “Even if you do business in the council, never forget your roots.” He added, “Wherever we find ourselves—whether in politics, government, or public service—we must not forget where we come from. We must use our positions to open doors for others, to support one another, and to bring our people into the system.”
Governor Radda further called for collective effort to address regional challenges, stating, “We must not be selfish. We should respect and support each other, especially when opportunities arise at the federal level. That’s how we grow collectively.
The Governor, however, expressed gratitude to the Permanent Secretary for his efforts in strengthening ties between the state and federal institutions.
Earlier, in his welcome address, Amb. Nura Abba Rimi, expressed profound appreciation for Governor Radda’s visit and his transformative leadership in Katsina State.
“We are truly delighted by your presence here today. Many indigenes of Katsina who live and work in Abuja have also expressed their joy and said they were coming to personally welcome their governor. The number of people who wanted to be here to receive you is truly significant,” Ambassador Rimi stated.
The Permanent Secretary emphasized the pride Katsina indigenes feel because of Governor Radda’s leadership. “To be honest and sincere, Your Excellency, your arrival brings us great happiness. What makes us especially proud is that whenever discussions about governance or leadership arise, we confidently say: We are from Katsina. We say this without hesitation or apology, because of your leadership,” he remarked.
Ambassador Rimi commended the Governor service to the State. “Though I am a federal civil servant, I must say that I am extremely proud of you, my dear governor. Some have held office before you, and perhaps even had greater opportunities, but they have not done what you are doing for the people of Katsina. I believe others will follow your footsteps, but for now, you stand out,” he affirmed.
“Your administration has made a meaningful impact—especially in the area of security. Katsina is becoming safer, and this is thanks to your proactive efforts. Not every leader takes such responsibility seriously, especially when faced with banditry. But you did not run from the challenge—you confronted it head-on and instructed those responsible to go and protect our people,” he noted.
Ambassador Rimi also acknowledged improvements in health, education, and other sectors, affirming that these developments have inspired Katsina indigenes in federal service to organize themselves in support of the state’s development.
“That is why we, as Katsina citizens in Abuja and in the federal service, are organizing ourselves to support your efforts. Under your leadership, we are uniting, and we are committed to contributing meaningfully to the development of our state,” he concluded.
