Governor Radda vows to expand Jibia General Hospital, commends Jibia federal legislator, council chair over service delivery

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to the expansion and full remodeling of the Jibia General Hospital to address the increasing number of patients relying on the facility for medical care.

The governor made the declaration today during his engagement visit to Jibia Local Government, where he paid homage to the Sarkin Arewan Katsina and District Head of Jibia, Alhaji Rabe Rabiu, and interacted with community stakeholders, traditional leaders, political groups, and youth representatives.

Governor Radda explained that the expansion of the hospital became necessary following a request presented by the Dan Madamin Katsina and District Head of Daddara, Alhaji Usman Usman Nagoggo, who appealed for wider reconstruction of key public structures destroyed by banditry.

“The demand for a modern, expanded hospital in Jibia is both genuine and urgent. With the growing population and the pressure on the existing facility, we must respond decisively,” the governor said.

He assured the traditional institutions in Jibia that the remodeling work would commence soon, noting that the improvement of healthcare infrastructure remains central to his administration’s human capital development agenda.

Also during the visit, the governor launched a large-scale empowerment programme introduced by the Jibia Local Government Chairman, Alhaji Surajo Ado, aimed at boosting economic self-reliance across the area.

The empowerment items distributed include 100 grinding machines, 100 sewing machines, 100 noodle-making machines, and 100 pepper-grinding machines intended to support women and small-scale businesses engaged in food processing and home-based enterprises.

Other empowerment items include 50 tricycles, 50 bicycles, 50 motorcycles for selected youths, furniture sets for 10 orphaned brides, ₦20,000 cash support to 609 young men and women, 100 barbing kits, and 17 brand-new motorcycles for all village heads in the local government.

Governor Radda acknowledged Jibia as a pacesetter in community-driven peace dialogue with bandits, noting that their courageous engagement has contributed to the gradual stability now being recorded in the area.

“With unity, prayer, and cooperation between government and communities, we are beginning to witness a positive shift toward peace,” he stated.

He called on religious and traditional leaders to continue maximizing Friday congregational gatherings to intensify prayers for lasting peace across the state.

The District Head of Daddara, speaking on behalf of both district heads of Jibia and Daddara, also appealed for the reconstruction of the Katsina–Bugaje–Gangara Road and the Gurbi–Shimfida Road to improve mobility and restore normalcy in previously affected communities.

Governor Radda later commissioned a newly completed maternity ward constructed by the Member Representing Jibia/Kaita Federal Constituency Hon Sada Soli and inspected the ongoing Amenity Ward initiated by the Jibia LG Chairman.

He also unveiled the remodeled Office of the Council Chairman and the upgraded Council Chamber, which was named in his honour.

Addressing residents at the Jibia Local Government Secretariat, Governor Radda commended the federal legislator and the council chairman for their service delivery and reaffirmed his administration’s readiness to continue supporting community-based development initiatives.

Dignitaries accompanying the governor included Speaker of the Katsina State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Nasir Yahaya Daura; Senator representing Katsina Central, Senator Abdul’aziz Musa Yar’adua and Member representing Dutsi/Mashi Federal Constituency, Hon.Yusuf Majigiri.
