Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has unveiled the Nasarawa State University Keffi (NSUK) Strategic Action Plan 2024-2029 aimed at outlining strategic initiatives for implementation in the institution.

Sule unveiled the document at the university’s 4th stakeholders meeting and the first anniversary of the appointment of the current Vice Chancellor, Prof Sa’adatu Liman in Keffi.

In his address, the governor who is also a Visitor to the university applauded the management of the university for the strategic action plan and promised to ensure his administration supports the university to actualize the plan.

“I came in and found a rising profile of the university, and I believe that I must give my best for this university to be what it is. And I’m happy that we have a team that is driving that, the best that we can achieve for this institution,” he said.

He added that he was very much aware of all the institution’s challenges as well as its capacity and the prospects and the potential to rank among the leading universities in the country, hence his administration’s resolve to offer maximum support.

He said his administration had taken into consideration challenges like insecurity, fencing of the institution, and provision of accommodations for students among others.

“As a matter of fact, in the next few days, we are going to sign a Public Private Partnership with a company that already did the hostels at the University of Lagos.

“So they are coming into the university here to construct 1,152-bed hostels, and so anytime we have to support, we will support by the grace of God,” he said.

In a remark, Professor Attahiru Jega, Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Council of the university appreciated the state government for giving the institution premium attention by offering practical support for the development of the institution.

“However, we should not leave it all to the Visitor of the university. Each of us has a role to play in contributing to the development of the university. That is how great universities are developed,” he said.

Jega, while applauding the Vice Chancellor of the university for the feats she achieved in her first year in office, assured her that the Governing Council of the university would continue to give her and her management team maximum support.

Professor Saadatu Liman, Vice Chancellor of the university in her address said the goals of the institution aimed to strengthen the academic foundation and ensure its curriculum remains relevant to national and global demands.

She added that the goal was also to broaden frontiers in research, development, and innovation among others.

“The vision was never intended to be theoretical. It was a practical roadmap anchored on measurable outcomes. I am proud to report that, one year on, we have made tangible and meaningful progress in turning this vision into reality,” she said.

She, therefore appealed for continued and enhanced stakeholder support to achieve the university’s set goals, especially actualizing its Strategic Action Plan 2024-2029.

“Let me re-emphasize that this one-year milestone is not a destination, it is rather a defining beginning. It marks the foundation of a new era of growth, excellence, and global relevance for Nasarawa State University Keffi,” she added.
