The Senior Special Assistant to Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa state on Public Affairs, Hon Peter Ahemba, described the governor’s victory at the Appeal Court as reflection of the popular mandate given to him by the electorates during the March 18th, 2023 governorship election.

Hon. Ahemba said this in a statement made available to newsmen on Friday in Lafia.

The appellate court, in a unanimous decision by a three-member panel of Justices, voided the verdict of the Nasarawa State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, which sacked gov Sule of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to him, the Appeal Court verdict is sound and devoid of technicalities as the decision of the Court was based on the merits of the appeal.

He commended the Appellate Court for the professional, water-tight, sound and firm judgement, noting that it further demonstrated that the judiciary is alive to its responsibility of justice dispensation.

The governor’s Aide said the reaffirmation of Sule as the duly elected Governor of the State by the Appeal Court also vindicated him and his party of any wrong doing during the governorship election.

The statement assured the good people of Nasarawa State of governor sustained commitment toward rapid socio-economic development of the state through industrialisation and execution of people-oriented projects.

He commended the good people of Nasarawa State for their show of restrain before, during and after the Appeal and call on well-wishers of the Governor and the teeming supporters of the APC in the State to continue in this direction by celebrating moderately.

“The Governor, in his usual commitment for peace, unity and overall development of the State has extended his hands of fellowship to all members of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, including it’s governorship candidate, Dr David Ombugadu.

“The state government under gov Sule will continue to be fair to all manner of people and segments of the society, devoid of sentiments of any form, and will continue to deliver good governance to the people as encapsulated in the Nasarawa Economic Development Strategy for the good of all,” he said.
