Governors Ganduje, Bala Mohammed, NDLEA boss, Marwa to grace journalists’ events in Calabar

Governors of Kano and Bauchi states, Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje, Bala Mohammed as well as Chairman, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and former Lagos State Governor, General Buba Marwa, (rtd) have confirmed that they will arrive Calabar to grace the Cross River State Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Media Week.
The event will climax on 25 November 2022.
The host, Governor of Cross River State, Professor Ben Ayade will join them to unveil the proposed Veterans Corner project.
While in the state Governor Ganduje of Kano State would grace the 2022 Cross River NUJ media summit as Chairman of the occasion.
According to a statement by the planning committee of the week, Bauchi State Governor Mohammed would be the special guest of honour.
A presidential candidate for next year’s election, Major Hamza Al Mustapha is another guest of honour.
The chairman of the planning committee, Comrade Sam Nsor also indicated that the keynote speaker at the event would be a legal luminary Chief Mike Ozekhome while a former Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase and a retired Independent National Electoral Commission, Resident Electoral Commissioner Barrister Mike Igini would be guest lecturers.
The Chairman of the state NUJ, Comrade Nsa Gill, said in a statement that the theme for the event “2023 general elections: The Nigeria Project and the media” was carefully selected to bring into focus the upcoming general elections.
Nsa pointed out that the media week which is an annual event would kick start with a city Walk by members along major streets of the Calabar metropolis to create awareness.
He also indicated that the occasion would provide the enabling environment for cross fertilization of ideas among security experts, captains of industries, politicians and media practitioners,as well as propound a road map for the successful conduct of the 2023 general elections.
He outlined other events earmarked for the week to include medical outreach, visit to veterans of the profession including a town hall meeting by governorship candidates of the various political parties in the state tagged “Meet the press”.
