The Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, continued his Statewide Engagement Tour with a significant empowerment event in Matazu Local Government Area, where he applauded the Chairman, Shamsuddeen Muhammad Sayaya, for his commitment to uplifting citizens through humanitarian and economic empowerment initiatives.
The empowerment programme featured the distribution of sewing machines, irrigation machines, grinding machines, flour, and other related tools designed to support small business owners, promote self-reliance, and improve household incomes across Matazu.
Governor Radda described the intervention as a “timely and meaningful contribution” to grassroots development, acknowledging the Chairman’s efforts to address economic challenges and expand opportunities for youths, women, and vulnerable families.
During the visit, Governor Radda paid a courtesy call on the District Head of Matazu, Alhaji Iro Maikano Fagachin Katsina.
The traditional ruler appealed to the Governor to expedite the provision of portable drinking water from the Zobe Dam to Matazu town, noting that the community continues to face persistent water shortages.
He also expressed profound appreciation to the Governor for the Federal Government hospital built in Matazu, describing it as a major milestone that has significantly improved healthcare access for the people.

Responding, Governor Radda directed that the ongoing Urban Water Supply project in Matazu be immediately upgraded and completed as a short-term measure while awaiting the full extension of water supply from the Zobe Dam.
The Governor emphasized the need for unity and cooperation among all stakeholders, particularly members of the APC, stressing that “collective effort remains central to achieving sustainable development.”
He highlighted the remarkable progress recorded by his administration in the health and education sectors, especially improvements in access to medical services and conducive learning environments across the state.
Governor Radda further stated that his government has deliberately relieved local government councils of excessive financial burden, enabling them to carry out meaningful grassroots projects without constraints.
He commended the Chairman of Matazu Local Government for initiating various empowerment and humanitarian projects scheduled for commissioning.
“These initiatives are designed to stimulate economic growth, strengthen self-reliance, and enhance the living standards of our people,” he noted.
In Matazu, the Governor also held a strategic stakeholders’ meeting with community leaders, political groups, and opinion leaders to assess priority needs.
